What’s involved
There are many reasons why people seek relationship counselling including communication difficulties, relationship breakdown, separation and divorce, co-parenting, managing stress and anxiety, bereavement, intimacy issues, infidelity, managing extended family relationships, financial worries and parenting issues.
When a relationship feels stuck with difficulties, conflict and misunderstandings it can sometimes feel hard to find a way through on your own.
Relationship counselling offers the opportunity to enhance communication and gain a deeper understanding of your relationship patterns and dynamics. My role is to stay neutral and non-judgemental; to provide a safe and supportive space where you can talk and listen to each other openly and discuss and explore what’s happening in your relationship. It gives you the opportunity to look at how experiences from your individual past may be influencing the present and find new ways of thinking about and resolving the problems that you are experiencing.
I recognise it can feel really daunting reaching out for help and I will support you as much as possible to feel comfortable and at ease. Our first session would be an initial consultation for us to meet and discuss what you’re hoping for from the counselling process: an opportunity for me to assess whether I could work with you whilst also providing you the opportunity to meet me and ask any questions to make sure I am the right counsellor for you at this time.
